Mia's First Tailgate Experience

She came with Bill and I bought her a tailgate package- full of UT items for her to take home. She enjoyed them and I really appreciated spending time with her and Bill. We talked about Halloween, her fave song right now and her friends....she played washers at the tailgate before leaving for the game. I went to the game with Charles and the game was the best on this year and for the last couple of years- it was exciting, thrilling and amazing! what was cool about the game is that nobody went home early...very cool, well- except for Bill and Mia- guess she wanted to go home. Also, the game went down to the wire and TX pulled off the win with 4 second left in the game- very thrilling. The next day- Wyll, Mikey and I went to participate in the AIDS walk of Austin, along with the AT&T team.

Drove to see Lea in East Texas

Yesterday, James and I left around 11:30am to drive to see Amber and Lea at Lea's cousin's house in Saratoga Tx- by Beaumont and on the other side of Houston. She gave us driving instructions but James wanted to map it instead. We drove for about five hours and when we got there- we had about 50 miles left of gas, no service on our phones as we drove to a locked gate. We thought we arrived at the right place but we had to leave and go get gas b/c we had no idea where we were at. We stopped to ask some folks about where to locate gas and such and they were very nice and helpful. Once we got gas, we tried again to locate the place and Amber was able to meet us to help us drive to the house. During our visit, we brought Amber some cake balls and kolaches from Bucc-ees , grieving stones from crystal works and music from my jump drive. Lea looked better than expected but would act strange from time to time- from the meds. Emy and her husband were very nice and she cooked for us. We left a different way home and got in around 11:30pm- this time four hours to get home. We were so glad we went to visit her and we hope to see her again first thing in November, when Amber said she would come back for another visit. Lea has room set up at Emy's and several hospice workers come tend to her daily.
