Surplus day

Well, both James and I got a call from our boss yesterday, letting us know we are still with the company. It was a very stressful day for everyone involved, especially those impacted. Luckily, James and I talked about the possibility of being surplused, so we had our own plan b and c for our future. We left work around 1pm CT to have drinks at La Posada and really to get our perspective back. We drank so much and talked that we ended up going to bed around 6pm. We are very lucky that folks like us at work and recognize our work ethic and level of commitment.

Heard from John Cole today

It's been months (since March 2014) and he called to say HI. We spoke he plans to move into town to a house with another person, with the help of some foundation that helps vets who are starting their life over (jobless and homeless). He told me about his car being fixed then repo-ed by the guy who was hired to fix it- typical story from john. not sure when we will see him again, but I am hopeful because he sounded good, cried while apologizing for the way he treated us and our friendship...can't wait to see him and see him get his life back....rooting for ya, John!

This past week....

Has been rough- from getting the news our department will re-org and some of us will be surplus, to Robert's dad passing away, to getting our bills in order and mom having some kinds of flu. Both James and I have been stressed, jus like everyone else at work....here's to hoping next week is somewhat better- it's the not knowing that sucks. I mean, if I am impacted- just let me know now so I can prepare....Yesterday, I also met with Amy (Lisa's sister) to help her prep for an interview for another department where she works- at Apple. I did ask a lot of questions about Apple, so if I or James is let go from ATT- Apple here we come!

But, here is hoping we still have our job when the dust settles.

Coldest day in Austin

So far, last night was the coldest it has been in a long time....25 degrees! we had all the faucets dripping and today we reached 41 degrees. We have one more night of cold weather before it just gets cold and not freezing cold. However, Friday night and Saturday morning- we will have freezing rain, which suck- since I have to go to San Antonio to get Mikey's b-day cake.

Wyll came over and spent the night- we stayed up talking all night and finally went to bed around 2a,. James was sick and had been in bed since 6pm that night....next morning, we went out for breakfast then he went back to bed. I drank mimosas the rest of the day...just saying :)
