Lani died this morning at 8:38am

She had been dealing with a chronic ear infection that was not getting any better. Her ear would be bleeding from her constant scratching...there would be blood everywhere at time. Her infection would also stink and have this rotten odor wherever she laid and even around her. She started to withdraw and only sleep in certain sections of the house then started to hang out at strange places and not interact with the boys. The boys started to follow her and harass her because they knew she was different. Maybe it was her scent or it was because they knew she was in pain/hurting, not sure. Jaime was yelling that something had to be done because he could no longer take it anymore and see her in pain. I took that as we needed to let her go, so he was completely caught off guard when I told him I was taking her to put her down. I went by myself because he was hysterical and blindsided. He also was mad at the vet for not being able to fix her ear infection. we went back twice and each time it was a couple of hundred dollars! The only other recourse we were looking at was surgery and right now, that was not a financial option. I feel guilty for putting her down "too soon", but she was in pain, she started to have bathroom issues, her ear bled daily, he smell would go and come back, Jaime would treat her with human vagisal, but that was only a temp fix. I did not want her in constant pain, she deserved better than that, so as a last act of selfless love, we had to let her go. Love you mamas, thank you for 16 years of love, keeping the boys in line, being the mama bear of the house and finding us that cold night at the call center. We will love you always....love your dads :)
